About

About Tridib Kumar Chatterjee

Tridib Kumar Chatterjee is a leading figure in Indian publishing and the Bengali literary and cultural sphere. Across more than four decades he has shaped the imagination of generations of readers — as a novelist of children’s and adult fiction, as a tireless editor, and as the publishing force behind Patra Bharati, one of Bengal’s most respected literary houses.

His debut novel Haat won the Amrita Kamal Puraskar in 1990, and his beloved Ekhono Gaye Kanta Daye was honoured with the Bal Sahitya Akademi Award. His Jagumama detective series has become a cornerstone of Bengali children’s literature, with five volumes of the Rahasya Samagra in print.

Beyond his own writing, he has edited and compiled landmark anthologies and is a familiar voice at literary festivals, book fairs, and on the Storyteller and Time Traveller video series — sharing the texture of a life lived inside Bengali books.
